IT is complicated. When meeting new customers I am often confronted with an outpouring of issues and problems that have affected them for what seems like forever. These first meetings sometimes feel like a counselling session as they retell their IT horrors and how overwhelming it all is. There is often a lot of baggage in the form of issues with key systems, poor existing support and slow computers. My job is to sift through this and get to the heart of things which is, technology. IT is complicated, but the needs of a business are simple.
Every business needs reliable systems that work for them (not against them). It is important that systems are kept up to date and that the business has the support that it needs. For the team at Node IT providing support is the simple bit. However often this is often the area that businesses complicate by trying to save money and doing it themselves. I spoke to one business owner recently who spends his evenings and weekends fixing IT issues, instead of leaving it to the experts who can fix it more quickly and efficiently. Not ideal when you’ve got a new family. I asked him if he does his own books and the reply was that is too complicated and so his accountant does that. “So why not do the same for your IT?” I asked. His reply was “when can we start”, Simple.
